Montana Bandmasters Seeley Lake Rendezvous! at Historic Camp Paxson June 15th - 18th 2008 The 2008 MBA Seeley Lake Rendezvous promises to be another outstanding professional development opportunity. As in the past, it will be held at historic Camp Paxson on Seeley Lake. Sessions will be presented by faculty members from the music departments at MSU and UM as well as by MBA members and other professionals. OPI credit will be available as well as two hours of graduate credit through MSU. We have always asked participants to bring some of their favorite music to share with everyone. This has been an excellent opportunity for participants to learn about and hear some of the good new material available to us as well as great old standards. Many of our participants have asked if we could spend more time on small ensembles this year. So if you could bring some ensemble pieces (brass quintets, woodwind quintets, percussion ensembles, mixed ensembles, etc.) that would be great. We have added a little more time to the schedule for ensemble playing and/or free time as participants have requested. Feedback from participants has always been a significant aspect of planning the focus of our sessions. We will, as always, have sessions on the issues related to woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. In addition, there will be several new areas of discussion. Tom Cook will conduct a session on bringing live performances to our schools as well as other community aspects of our profession. Issues related to jazz and general conducting will also be covered. In addition, there will be sessions on “Recruiting and Retaining Instrumental Students” and “Double Reed Issues”. Presenters will include Shuichi Komiyama, Sherry Linnerooth, Laurie Hickman, Jennifer Kirby, Zane Douglass, Dave Barr, Sallee Nelson, Dennis Granlie and Jerry Arthun as well as other MBA members. Many people and organizations have supported us in bringing this to fruition including the excellent faculties of both MSU and UM. Since the beginning, Sherry Linnerooth and her great staff at Eckroth Music have been especially helpful in bringing Rendezvous to the membership of MBA. Also, Morgenroth Music has assisted us with making Rendezvous happen. We hope to see you there! Rendezvous Music List - We've found these pieces work well. Please contact the webmaster for a grade level on these pieces and I'll add it to the list. Check list of things to bring to Rendezvous
